How to apply for Pakistan e-Visa on Arrival

Tourist Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox

Government of Pakistan provides two types of Visa on arrival to the eligible applicants:

  1. Tourist Visa on Arrival (Visa Inbox)
  2. Business Visa on Arrival (Visa Inbox)

How to apply for Tourist visa on Arrival?

You are eligible to apply for tourist visa on arrival (Visa Inbox) if you are citizen one of these Countries – Click Here to see the list of Eligible countries.

You should apply at least 48 to 72 hours before your planned visit to Pakistan. Once you get a valid ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) by email from the concerned Immigration Authorities of Pakistan, then you may print out the ETA and carry with you to travel to Pakistan.  Without ETA you cannot travel to Pakistan. Important Note:  If you are travelling in emergency, it may be better to apply for entry visa to the nearest Diplomatic Mission of Pakistan (Embassy/High Commission/Consulate of Pakistan)  in the country of your nationality or residence because sometimes the process of ETA is taking longer as it is processed by the concerned authorities of Pakistan.

Moreover, Afghan origin and Indian Origin may not apply for Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox even if they are citizen of the eligible countries as there is special administrative process for those applicants. Afghan Origins are those persons who born in Afghanistan or one of their parents born in Afghanistan. 

For instance, a Swedish citizen born in Afghanistan is considered an Afghan origin and should not apply for Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox.

Who are eligible to apply for Visa on Arrival?

  • To apply for Tourist Visa on Arrival or Visa in Your Inbox, you must be a citizen of one of these countries listed here.
  • Foreign nationals of Indian origin are also eligible to apply under this category for religious (Sikh Yatrees) tourism purposes.
  • Tour operators approved by the Pakistan Directorate of Tourist Services (DTS) may be allowed to bring Tourist Groups under this category.
  • A  Pakistani origin holding Foreign Passport can also apply for Visa on Arrival. Pakistani origin mean a person born in Pakistan or one of his/her parents is either Pakistani or born in Pakistan. Sometimes, a person who is dual national of Sweden (or other country) and Pakistan and his or her Pakistani Passport or NICOP or POC was expired, such a person can apply for Visa on Arrival. However, if someone want to apply for long term or longer stay more than 30 days, he/she should apply for Entry Visa to the concerned Embassy/High Coomission/Consulate of Pakistan.

Who should not apply for Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox?

  • Afghan and Indian origin irrespective of their nationalities, as there is special administrative process for them, should not apply for Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox.
  • If someone travelling in extreme emergency should also avoid applying for Visa on Arrival or Visa Inbox as sometimes the process take longer and the visa is processed by the concerned authorities of Pakistan.  It is advisable to apply for Entry visa to Pakistan Embassy/High Commission/Consulate in the country of nationality or residence.

Required Documents:

  1. Photograph
  2. Passport
  3. Invitation Letter by the sponsor or hotel booking details in case of individual tourist
  4. Invitation Letter in case of group by the tour operator designated by the department of tourist services
  5. For Skikh Yatree of Indian origin should provide a recommendation/invitation letter from Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee of Pakistan
  6. Pakistani origin may upload expired copy of Pakistani passport or NICOP or POC or Birth certificate
  7. The officer can ask for further documents.

Validity and Duration of Visa

  • Tourist Visa on Arrival (Visa in Your Inbox)  is valid for 30 Days
  • Nationals of  Malaysia, Turkey and UAE may be granted a 30-day, multiple-entry visa upon arrival

Processing Time

  • 48-72 Hours (Working Hours)

Important Note: Issuance of Visa is the discretion of the Government of Pakistan and can be refused without assigning any reason. Thus visa cannot be claimed as a right.

Please also Note: If the application is sent back for Review to the Applicant, the set processing time will be applicable again. (The processing time will re-start from the date of re-submission of application).

The Application will stand cancelled if applicant does not resubmit his/her application in Seven (7) days from the date of application sent for review.

The computer automatically cancels such overdue application. The fee is non-refundable whether your visa is cancelled or refused. The applicant has to re-apply in such case and has to pay the fee again.

Question 1. I am a dual national of Pakistan and Sweden and my Pakistani NICOP has expired, do I need a visa and can I apply for Visa on Arrival?

Answer 1. Yes, you must have a valid visa to travel to Pakistan if your NICOP or Pakistani passport is expired. Yes, you can also apply for Visa on Arrival by uploading copy of your expired NICOP or Pakistani Passport. However, if you want a longer period of visa, it is advisable to apply for Entry visa by selecting the place of interview Sweden (Stockholm) and Pakistan Embassy Sweden will process your visa as urgently as possible.
